Campus fests in India are becoming bigger and bigger with time. Assam, too hosts its share of great fests featuring some popular local and national artists. Here are three such campus fests which have grown larger in scale with each passing year, and have turned into must-attend fests that music lovers in the state look forward to every year –
The annual rock music festival organized by NIT Silchar is very popular and well-known in the Barak Valley of Assam. Bands like Boomarang and Demonic Resurrection have performed in the festival. Another major attraction of this festival is the ‘Battle of the Bands’ where bands from all over India compete with each other for the winner’s title.
Everyone who is a music lover knows about this festival organized by IIT Guwahati. The festival has seen performances by big bands like Indian Ocean, Raghu Dixit Project and Euphoria. Eminent artists like Michael Angelo Batio, Swiss Folk Metal band Eluveitie, Irish Folk band Ciorras and Anoushka Shankar have also performed at the festival. Bollywood personalities like KK, Mohit Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Shilpa Rao have also been part of the fest in the past.

The festival is one of the biggest and grandest cultural fests to be held in Upper Assam. Bands from all around the country have performed at the festival. They also get some great headlining acts, last year, it was Pakistani band Raeth. That same year, Girish and the Chronicles also performed, and they were a hit among the students.
