Alobo Naga recently opened a music school in his hometown Dimapur named ‘Musik-A’. The moment you walk into the school, you start appreciating the beautiful artwork on the walls dedicated to famous Naga musicians who have greatly contributed to the music scene of Nagaland.
‘Apart from western music and equipment, we at Musik-A will also focus on Indian classical music,’ shared Alobo. Musik-A will also host seminars and workshops on Naga folk songs. In fact, famous folk artists like Tetseo Sisters and Guru Rewben Masangva will be providing folk music classes for interested students.
Musik-A is affiliated with London School of Music for gospel music. Audio engineering will be taught by Kevi Pucho of ‘We The Giants’ at the school. Artist management is another aspect that Musik-A will focus on. In addition to that, students will also be able to take dancing lessons at the school.
In the future, the school will also house a cafe where people can help themselves to hot beverages and snacks. ‘There will be no menu or rate-card, people can donate whatever they want in exchange for their meal. That money will be used to help underprivileged artists from the State,’ informs Alobo.
