If you are in and around Guwahati then do make a point to check out these interesting events that you can think about attending.
First on the list is the Sennheiser Top 50, Zonal Finale-East at Terra Mayaa which will be held tonight. Three bands, Avora Records, Spreading Roots and The Buddha Therapy will be battling it out for a spot at the national finale; the title was bagged by The Local Train at the first edition. The headlining act for the evening will be Guwahati heavyweights, Lucid Recess. On the judges’ panel, there will be youth icon, Papon and guitar legend, Rudy Wallang of Soulmate.
If you are in the mood to dance the night away, Xtreme Sports Bar will host its weekly edition of the Wicked Wednesdays in partnership with Guwahati’s party legends, Alchemy.
Fast forward to Friday and we have the opening day of the second edition of The Great Northeastern Momo Fest, 2017, the three day festival which will showcase a wide range of regional musicians and a variety of finger-licking momos.
That’s not all, the night of 25th August in Guwahati is going to be all about hip hop. Nyx Lounge and Deck will host its first Breezer Vivid Shuffle Night with DJ Sa who was voted as ‘India’s Best Hip Hop DJ’ at the first edition of the VH1 My Fav Awards. Joining him will be Indian rap sensation, Divine. An award winning rapper, he was presented with the title of best new Indian artiste in 2015 by iTunes and Apple music. The rapper is a frequent collaborator with the Bass Raja, Nucleya and the duo recently worked on a song for Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming release.
That same night, Urban Mantra will also play host to an exclusive hip hop edition of The Get Down, organised by Movement of Expression. It will feature India’s pioneering hip hop producer, Stunnah Beatz along with his musical partner Banjop. The line up consists of a few other up-and-coming artistes including Shillong-based South African rapper, Nino Dash.
