After much anticipation, the first edition of LAC Group’s Forkaal Music festival started on 23rd September, 2017. On day 1, music lovers got to witness blood-pumping performances by Guwahati’s very own Dark Carnage, Indian metal giants Demonic Ressurrection, Kryptos and the mighty Polish Death metal band, Vader. However, the show stealer for the night was Kolkata band – What Escapes Me. The young lot did not fail to amaze with their power packed performance.
The next day, music lovers gathered with much enthusiasm. Homegrown artistes, Fellow Swimmers, was one act to look forward to as their sound is quite thrilling. Local favourites, Dossers Urge of Shillong and Nagaland’s Polar lights also lit up the stage with their infectious energy. Lands earlier known as Nicholson sounded a little dystopian to grab the attention of the crowd. But post-rock outfit Aswekeepsearching and the legendary Girish and The Chronicles ensured that the energy did not go down.
Forkaal did invite some stellar bands from across India in their first edition which has raised the expectations of musicians and music lovers from the region. It will be interesting to see what the festival will offer in its future editions.
