Kevin Lywait who hails from Jowai and Alexandria who is from Shillong connected through SoundCloud and bonded over their passion for experimental electronic music. The duo met only once in person before hitting the studio, the rest was through social networking.
The single, ‘Too Fast Too Late’ was born in June, 2016. The duo is better known under the alias – Ha Lor. The name is inspired by good vibes, good people, pleasant weather and the hills of Meghalaya. Ha Lor is a Khasi word for ‘being on top’. The two were inspired by a place on a hilltop with a 360 degree view, somewhere near the city of Shillong.
Kevin’s Story
21-year-old Kevin started learning DJing in his bedroom from 2013. Later, he received training from Resonance DJ Academy in Bangalore. Currently, he is pursuing B Voc at St. Joseph’s College in Bangalore. He used to work as the resident DJ at a club called Monkey Bar. Back in 2014, Kevin had won Master Of The Mix Battle, Shillong. He has performed at shows like Shillong Midnight Festival, The Hip Hop Project at The Humming Tree, Sundowner at Living Roof and at various venues in Bangalore.
Alexandria’s Story
Singer/songwriter Alexandria Syiem is also 21 years old and is currently studying at Mount Carmel College. A former vocalist for, funk band Clown With A Frown, she now collaborates with artists from different genres. She has performed at The Humming Tree, High Spirit, Pune, and different venues in Chennai. She recently performed at Cloud9 in Shillong with Manovan Massar, the pianist from the band, Dewdrops.
