No Comments Uncategorized

2016 is almost at an end but it has been quite an exciting year for the Northeast music scene. Lots of local artistes came out with catchy and quality original work. Although many artistes released interesting videos in 2016, we list some of the most striking ones that stood out from the rest –

Hunger of A Lady: Manipur’s Pendulum Swing came out with a video for ‘Hunger Of A Lady’ where they highlighted 7 strong Manipuri women. Women have always played an integral role in the Manipuri society and the video beautifully captured the same. Due to blockades and bandhs, it took them more than a month to complete the video but it was worth the wait.

Panchi: It was the first original video by Echo from Assam and they wanted it to be special and it was indeed special. Shot in the countryside, it beautifully showcases the beauty of Northeast India.

Fighter: Every time Borkung comes out with a video, expectations are high. This time he went to shoot the video at Leh and the outcome was amazing. Though a simple video, it beautifully captured the essence of the song.

My Summer: Nagaland’s upcoming pop star Virie is very talented and her songs are always a treat for the ears. Her video ‘My Summer’ is one the best videos released in 2016. The dream-like sequences in the video adds a touch of mystery and fantasy to the song.

Dread: Yesterdrive was one of the three bands from India to have worked with the Brazilian filmmakers Diana Bocara and Leo Longo who are making 80 music videos around the world with different bands. The quirky video has a contemporary feel and will make you want to bust a move.
