Ziro Festival of Music has, over the years, evolved into one of India’s most sought-after outdoor music festivals. They have shared a very promising list of artistes for their 2017 edition. The line-up has a mix of regional, national and international acts spread across multiple genres with the likes of Reggae Rajahs, Alobo Naga and Khasi Bloodz. This year’s edition will take place from 28th September to 1st October, at the picturesque Ziro valley of Arunachal Pradesh. We got in touch with the festival team to find out about what this edition has to offer.

The festival’s highlight has always been the magical venue – Ziro.  With around 40 acts, the festival will feature international acts like the cult German band Can’s legendary vocalist Damo Suzuki, Alaska Snack Time, Rizal Abulhadi, The Kathmandu Killers, Bint El Funk and more.

‘We are expecting a footfall of around 6000 over four days.’ Apart from the music, the festival will also offer a lot of other exciting activities. ‘There will be hikes, bird-watching tours, cultural visits to Apatani villages, cycling tours and much more,’ shares the organizing team.

‘We are an eco-friendly and sustainable festival. The infrastructure is made using locally-sourced bamboo. Our signboards are made with reclaimed wood and painted with eco-friendly paint. We have a team of volunteers that help clean the festival grounds during and after the festival, and we urge everyone to be a part of our ‘Clean and Green Ziro’ initiative and promote responsible tourism.’

This year, people can also use cryptocurrency to buy tickets making Ziro Festival of Music one of the first festivals in the world to accept cryptocurrency.

So, music lovers around the country, what are you waiting for? Book your tickets and pack your bags to experience the perfect coming together of great music and natural beauty.
