Soham’s Musical Tryst With Guwahati

No Comments Uncategorized

Kolkata’s Soham Bhattacharya has been travelling around the world under the moniker – ‘The Soham‘. His journey resembles that of the protagonist in Jules Verne’s classic Around The World in 80 Days. Recently, he visited Guwahati and shared his experience with us.

‘The recent trip to Guwahati has been truly magical. I started singing a John Denver classic at a gig there and the entire house started singing the song with me.’

Soham has been associated with music since the age of four when he started learning to play the tabla. When he reached adolescence, he started writing originals and practicing his guitar skills.

He aims to take his music to different venues across the world. He has played some memorable gigs at Merdekarya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Barber Shop by Timbre, Singapore. Soham is very eager to play and learn jazz music. He wants to form a trio with a few jazz stalwarts and go on tour with original songs in the set list.

The independent singer/songwriter is mesmerized by the people and the pace of Guwahati city. He intends to visit again and collaborate with home-grown musicians. ‘People are so friendly and helpful here. I had an amazing time performing and I will keep coming back.’
