Every year, as we approach the month of September, it marks the beginning of the festival season. With the advent of Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Northeast India in 2015 and the success of Ziro Festival of Music, there has been a surge in the number of music festivals in the region.
This weekend, the first edition of Forkaal music festival will be held in Khanapara, Guwahati. It is a first-of-its-kind two day festival that will play host to Polish death metal band Vader and Indian giants like Demonic Resurrection, Kryptos, Dark Karnage and What Escapes Me. Day two of the festival will witness performances by Girish and The Chronicles, Aswekeepsearching, Dossers Urge, Lands (Nicholson) and Polar Lights. The festival kick-starts on 23rd September, 2017.
The Rainbow Festival of the Seven Sisters will feature bands and artistes from all parts of India. It will be held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra Auditorium. Indie rock band, The Local Train will perform at the first edition of the festival as part of their Vaaqif album road tour. The festival will also include performances by veteran musician Lou Majaw, Spreading Roots, Press Select and The Confucius.
If you are in the mood to explore new sounds, then you should head to NYX Lounge and Deck at Hotel Palacio on 22nd September, 2017. Movement Of Expression and Vas Incorporated are launching their collaborative property, ‘The Dungeon’ complete with 14 fresh acts offering a night full of hip hop, trap, drum and bass.
